Tommy's catching the fleet
10 October 2007
Tommy set of again in the early hours off Tuesday morning after Nudger (Phil Wardrop) from Diverse yachts flew down to Funchal to replace the Pilot control Panel which had completely died. I have to say Tommy looked very relieved when Nudger confirmed that it was a Pilot failure and that there was no way to know that it was going to occur and no way to fix it out at sea. I don't think Tommy could dealt with it if it had been user error or lack of maintenance.
Tommy is looking good this morning and cacthing the back of the fleet quickly. With a few boats, including Isabelle, the girl who won leg one, stopping in the Canaries for repairs he should even have some other boats to race soon.
We received so many emails, texts and phone calls of support. Thank you all for making a hard situation a lot easier to handle. And thanks again to Nudger for coming down to save the day.
